Illustrator & Fine Artist

Bio Pic 3.jpg
Hi There!

I’m a Seattle-raised, Manhattan-hopping Illustrator. My work draws inspiration from the old-growth rainforests and mountains of the Pacific Northwest where I grew up and the stories that come out of them. Life growing up in the outdoors grew a curiosity for the little nooks and crannies underneath rocks and between roots and what creatures could be hiding in them. Cryptids, Fairy Tales, Folk Tales, and mythology quickly filled these gaps and became another central part of my work. My aesthetic is usually inspired by the imagery accompanying these stories, Illuminated manuscripts, folk art, and craft movements like quilting, weaving, and embroidery.

I’ve spent the past four years earning my BFA in Illustration at the School of Visual Arts, learning new mediums to express my work, including screen printing, bookbinding, and egg tempera. My Senior Thesis, a series of six oil paintings, was chosen for the 2024 Senior Illustration Show.  For this project, I also received an alumni scholarship to put toward my project.  My short comic, The Ferryman, was featured in SVA’s comic publication, Ink magazine.

My work is based on lots of research and idea boards, as I draw lots of inspiration from art history and the natural world. Most of my work is physical painting or drawing, which always makes me feel more involved. I also love using flat decorations and ornament that interact with the subjects of my illustrations. My ultimate goal is to use pieces of art and craft tradition to create new visual narratives.
